While it is in just a few more weeks that Windows 8 will hit store shelves, the Redmond Company has already released its enterprise solution to the market. Microsoft has announced the availability of Windows Server 2012, which it has dubbed as the cloud OS. Microsoft says that the new server OS maximizes the utility of cloud computing.

Microsoft has officially opened registration for new Windows 7 users (who purchase Windows 7 PC between June 2, 2012 – January 31, 2013) to upgrade to Windows 8. Microsoft is offering the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for $14.99. It may be recalled that the Indian consumers are entitled to a downloadable upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for a price of just Rs. 699.

0 Download Windows 8 Enterprise 90-day trial edition now

Microsoft has released a 90-day trial edition for its final version of Windows 8 operating system, which is slated to go on sale on October 26 this year. The trial, however, is available only for the Enterprise edition of Windows 8 and is aimed at developers who intend to build apps, and IT administrators who want to try out the new OS before making their decision to migrate, all ahead of its official debut. Microsoft recently released final version of Windows 8 to MSDN and Technet subscribers.

0 Windows 8 retail packaging revealed

The Verge has photos of what looks to be the boxed retail packaging for two of Microsoft’s upcoming operating systems, Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro. Windows RT, meant for ARM-based tablet / netbook devices, will not be available off the shelves.

The packaging features ‘Metro UI’ style (or should we say, ‘New User Interface’ style) Windows 8 logos, with different colour schemes for the two editions

Microsoft has launched a new feature for Office 2013 which is very similar to the Windows Store for Windows 8 apps. Called the new Office Store, it allows third party app developers to create, publish, sell and distribute Microsoft Office related apps. The store is specifically designed for Office 2013 applications.


Few weeks ago Microsoft announced the availability of its Office 2013 productivity suite. In yesterday's Office Store announcement, Microsoft revealed its new features.

Mac lovers rejoice. Apple’s latest OS, 10.8 Mountain Lion is now available for download. Users can get it from the Mac App Store for $19.99 (Rs. 1,120 approx.). If you have purchased your Mac in the past few weeks, then the OS update will be free for you



The new OS boasts of a number of new features that will help integrate the desktop OS and Apple's mobile OS, iOS in a more seamless manner. Some features of iOS that will make an appearance on Mountain Lion are notifications, iCloud integration and reminders to name a few.

0 Apple to unleash OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion

Apple’s latest desktop operating system, OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion will launch in the U.S. on the 25th of July. It’s already the 25th of July in India and if you log on to the Mac App store to download it, it won't be visible to you. You can check the App Store once the clock hits 25th July in the U.S. The OS will cost customers $19.99 (Rs. 1,125 approx.).



If you have purchased your Mac in the past few weeks, then the OS update will be free for you.
