Cupertino, California-based technology giant, Apple has announced that downloads of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion have exceeded three million in just four days, making it the most successful OS X release in Apple’s history.



With more than 200 new features, Mountain Lion is the ninth major release of Apple’s desktop operating system. The OS is available through the Mac App Store as an upgrade to Lion or Snow Leopard users for $19.99 (Rs. 1,110 approx.).

Research in Motion (RIM) in coordination with telecom operator Vodafone and entrance test preparation firm IMS has launched a test preparation application called Study Buddy for BlackBerry devices. The app, developed by Pune-based company OmniBridge Systems, is aimed at promoting BlackBerry phones among youth in the country. 



The Study Buddy app is available for download for BlackBerry smartphones on Vodafone network from the BlackBerry App World for free. To use the app, users will however need to activate a data access plan that costs up to Rs. 599 a month.

The 32GB variant of the Samsung Galaxy S III is now available in India at Rs. 41,500 via Samsung's eStore. Uptil now, only the 16GB variant of the device was available in the country. The 16GB S III was launched at Rs. 42,500, but is now available for Rs. 38,400 in the market.

"Samsung Galaxy S III is now available with 32GB in-built memory capacity," Samsung announced on its official Facebook page. Recently, Samsungannounced a 64GB variant of the S III as well, but no price or India launch date of the device was mentioned.

Rumours of a Facebook phone will not just die. According to a report from Bloomberg, Facebook has partnered with HTC to produce a self-branded phone that would launch in mid-2013.



The Bloomberg report quoting people knowledge of the matter claims the companies were working to release the device by end of this year but then pushed back the deadline to give more time to HTC to work on other devices. Facebook is reportedly working on a customised operating system for the device and has engaged a team of ex-Apple programmers to improve its iPhone app.

Sony has yet to confirm but rumour mills have been hard at work suggesting that a super slim PS3 is underway and could launch as early as next month for a price tag of $150 (Rs. 8,500 approx.). Leaked a few weeks ago on the Internet, the PS3-4000 boasts of a slimmer form factor than the current PS3 slim and will have 16GB storage making the device an ideal “budget” PS3.



Some rumours suggest that the device will launch at gamescom next month where as others suggest that the device may see the light of day towards the end of the year. Currently the cheapest PS3 available in India costs Rs. 16,990 and comes with a 160GB HDD.
