0 Aakash 2 tablet to be available to students next month

Union minister Kapil Sibal has said the Indian government's ultra low-cost Aakash 2 tablet will be available to students on November 11. The minister further said that the new version of the Aakash tablet PC will come with 1GHz processor, four-hour battery time, capacitive screen and Android 4.0 operating system. According to the minister, the price of the device will brought down to around Rs. 1,500, by conducting manufacturing activities in India.

                                 Micromax beats Apple, Samsung in the Indian tablet market: Report
According to a CyberMedia Research (CMR) report, Micromax has emerged as the leading brand in the India's tablet market, ahead of the international brands such as Apple and Samsung. The report, India Quarterly Media Tablet Market Review - between April and June this year, says Micromax had 18.3 percent share in tablet volume sales, while Samsung stood second with 13.3 per cent. Apple was on the third spot with a market share of 12.3 per cent during the review period.


Micromax’s CEO Deepak Mehrotra says the next quarter would be better, as the company had only one tablet in that review period. “We, at present, have a portfolio of five tablet PCs and the numbers next quarter should be better,” Mehrotra said.

0 Angry Birds Star Wars to release on November 8

It’s confirmed, Star Wars-themed Angry Birds is going to launch next month. Rovio has posted a video trailer (See Below) of the forthcoming 'Angry Birds Star Wars' game, which confirms November 8 as the release date.


In Angry Birds Star Wars, the birds and pigs alike will take on the personalities of characters from the Star Wars saga. The game will follow the mold of the recently launched Angry Birds Space, with planets from the “Star Wars” universe having their own gravitational fields, and different environmental conditions such as the desert of Tatooine and the freezing cold of Hoth.

Google has released a ‘Tablet App Quality checklist’ urging developers to build tablet specific apps while focussing on quality. The idea is to guide developers on how to optimize the applications for the bigger screen and the hardware, as well as utilize the free resources within the overall package. The detailed walkthrough goes right down to details like widgets, icons and text.


This is a steady change in Google’s stance which had till now countered Apple’s ideology for separate apps for tablets and the iPhone with “we have apps that run on both phones and tablets”. However, with the Nexus 7 tablet doing so well, Google wants to sort out the app quality issue that has for long been the lead point in a critics’ attack.
