0 Government withdraws ban on bulk SMSes and MMSes

The government has lifted its restriction on bulk SMSes and MMSes with immediate effect. It's notable that the ban has been revoked a day before the stipulated 15-day deadline of August 31. The move is a huge respite for millions of pre-paid mobile users, who were restricted from sending more than 20 SMSes a day in the wake of the NE situation.

A few weeks ago Microsoft had revealed their intentions to release an official SkyDrive app for Android phones. Today, Microsoft has announced the app, which is now available for download on Google Play store for free.

Facebook has announced it will be rolling out a new and cleaner version of Messages, which will now have a dual-pane layout.
The new Messages inbox has a list of the recent messages on the left side, and a reading pane on the right. The two pane format is said to make the Facebook Messages platform look closer to the professional emails, such as Microsoft Outlook. The previous Message design had a single-column view, while users needed to visit another page for viewing any conversation.

0 Government disconnects over 51,000 phone numbers for pesky calls

The government has disconnected more than 51,000 unregistered phone numbers that were being used for the telemarketing activities till July 2012. Moreover, notices were served to nearly 88,300 subscribers for similar violations. The revelation was made by Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology, Milind Deora in a written reply to Rajya Sabha last week.

WebOS just can't let go. More than six months after HP decided to open source the mobile OS, webOS Nation has discovered that the webOS Global Business Unit (GBU) will be reborn as a new company known as Gram.
WebOS Nation posted a memo from HP chief of staff Martin Risau in which is Gram is described as "a new brand."
"We are no longer a consumer hardware brand, we are a different company with focus on software, User Experience, Cloud, engineering and partnering," Risau wrote.

India has milked its reputation of offering cheap IT labour for long but the reputation might be in danger tells us a study conducted by Cushman & Wakefield and Hurleypalmerflatt named ‘Data Centre Risk Index’ . The study evaluated “Data Centre Risk Index” i.e., the risks to global data centre facilities and international investment in business critical IT infrastructure.
In the survey, India scored an unsurprising second position in the most risk ridden Data Centre location among top 30 countries, the last being Brazil. The centre of global outsourcing over the past few years may not look so attractive anymore! This may be due to India’s low score in “Ease of Business”, “Inflation”, “per capita GDP” and “Corporate Tax”. The recent power grid collapse only adds to such a low ranking of India in the study.
