0 RailRadar: Now track location of 6,500 trains on real-time basis

The Centre for Railway Information Service (CRIS) has announced a new web application called RailRadar, which allows users to access location of a train on Map and track movements of trains on a real-time basis. The new RailRadar service is considered to be an improved version of the earlier tracking system ‘Spot Your Train’.


The RailRadar application has been jointly developed by CRIS and RailYatri team (Stelling Technologies) and users can access it at  railradar.trainenquiry.com. The app will help users find the exact geographical location of 6,500 passenger trains of the Indian Railways on Google Maps on a real time basis. Users can also access RailRadar service from their mobile phones, via the device's browser.

0 Google rolls out free SMS service for Gmail users in India

Now you can send free text messages to your friends via Gmail! Search engine Google on Wednesday started rolling out free SMS service for its Gmail users in India. The service is reportedly also being rolled out for paid e-mail Google Apps customers in India. Google India hasn't officially announced the new initiative yet, however several Gmail users have reported about receiving a notification about the new service.


The message service enables users to send free text messages to mobile phones from their chat windows on Gmail. To send text, users need to add mobile numbers of their contacts in the e-mail address book. The service begins with 50 SMSes credit for every user, with one SMS costing one credit. If you get reply from a mobile phone to your Gmail, 5 credits are added to your account. Maximum credit for SMS is 50.

0 Dish TV launches lifetime free basic channels pack

Dish TV has announced that it will offer a basic channel pack free for all users who shift to their service from an existing cable TV connection in the four metro cities. The pack is called Lifetime Free TV. The new initiative comes just before the digitization deadline, which is set to be implemented on 1st November 2012.


Under the new offer, all new users will be able to access 70 channels free for a lifetime, even if the balance goes down to Rs 0 in their account. There will be 70 channels as a part of this package, across various genres - Hindi GEC, Hindi movies, music, devotional, lifestyle, news and regional. As a rule, all DD channels will be offered within this package. However, no High Definition (HD)channels will be offered as a part of this pack.

0 Apple to launch iPhone 5 in India on October 26?

Apple's iPhone 5 is already available for sale in several markets, and is expected to hit the Indian shores soon. Though Apple hasn't announced a launch date yet, rumours on the web suggest the iPhone 5 will launch in India on October 26.


BGR India, citing multiple sources, claims, “Appleis preparing to launch the iPhone 5 in India on the last Friday of this month, which happens to be October 26”. The site also reports Apple will be distributing its iPhone 5 on its own (via Apple Stores), instead of teaming up with the Indian carriers.
