0 MTNL Mumbai launches unlimited BlackBerry Plan for Rs. 399

State-run telecom operator Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) has launched an unlimited prepaid BlackBerry services plan for its prepaid BlackBerry users in Mumbai circle. The new Mumbai’s Trump Prepaid BIS 399 plan is priced at Rs. 399.

 As per the plan, MTNL will be offering users unlimited mobile Internet, e-mail, BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) and Instant Messengers (IM) such as Yahoo, Gtalk and MSN. The plan is valid for 30 days from the date of activation. Users can also view, manage and respond to all their e-mail and messages right from their smartphones while on move as well as surf, download and enjoy the BlackBerry Apps.

It's notable that if a user accesses the Internet via MTNL WAP APN then the data usage charge will be 2p/10kb. The free unlimited Internet usage is available only via BlackBerry Web Browser. On a separate note, MTNL has decided to drop promotional offers for plans under which subscribers were charged on a per minute basis.

"As per TRAI, we can not offer more than 25 tariff plans. We are consolidating tariff plans and as a result stopped some of the promotional plans. There is no increase in tariff but we are rationalising tariff plans," MTNL's Executive Director for Wireless Services, A.K. Bhargava is quoted as saying.

MTNL, however, has not said anything on plans under which subscribers are charged on per second basis.
