0 RIM rolls out BlackBerry 7.1 OS upgrade for Bold 9900

Research in Motion (RIM) has finally announced rolling out much-awaited BlackBerry 7.1 OS upgrade to its high end BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone. The BlackBerry 7.1 OS is likely to improve performance of the device along with addition of Wi-Fi hotspot functionality.






The upgrade comes after various BlackBerry Bold 9900 users complained about software bugs. The update also brings an upgrade to RIM's popular chat application i.e. BlackBerry Messenger, which is now upgraded to version 7.1.The updated BlackBerry Messenger allows users to create personalised avatars and integrated set ups for social networking like Facebook and Twitter. To refresh your memory, the BlackBerry Bold 9900 features a 5MP camera onboard capable of 720p HD video recording, 3G/Wi-Fi/GPS/Bluetooth/microUSB/NFC connectivity, an optical trackpad, a document editor and 8GB of built-in storage space. The device comes with a 1,230 mAh battery, which is rated to deliver 6.5 hours of talktime. The device also single-core 1.2GHz processor, and 768MB of RAM.

RIM has recently announced BB 7.1 OS-based smartphone, BlackBerry Curve 9220, in India. Priced at Rs. 10,990, the Curve 9220 comes with built in Wi-Fi and FM Radio.
