CES 2013: Toshiba launches 'touch and type' Satellite U845t ultrabook
Toshiba has unveiled an update to the Satellite U845 conveniently called the U845t.The device boasts of Windows 8 as the OS and is priced at $799 (approximately Rs. 44,300).

Specifications
The Satellite U845t boasts of a 14-inch touchscreen display with a 1366x768 resolution, choice of third-gen Intel Core i3 or i5 CPU, 500GB hard drive with 32GB SSD and up to 6GB of RAM.

0 Airtel launches Wi-Fi Hangouts service for prepaid users

Bharti Airtel has introduced a new Wi-Fi hotspot service, called Wi-Fi hangouts. The service is available for Airtel prepaid customers in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bangalore regions.

With the new hotspot service, Airtel subscribers can access the company's public hotspots by activating 'Airtel W-Fi Zone' vouchers available on the company website. 

“Now you can enjoy a broadband internet experience even outside your home. Whether at your favourite cafĂ©, restaurant or local hangout, Airtel Wi-Fi guarantees a secure and reliable connectivity on your laptop or handheld device,” says Airtel on its website.

0 Lenovo launches IdeaPad Yoga series in India

Lenovo has announced the official launch of the IdeaPad Yoga ultrabook in India. This is a “multi-mode” device, which can be switched into a non-keyboard mode thanks to the swivel design.

This is the same device that was showcased at CES 2012 and won 14 awards. There are two versions of this device – 11-inch and 13-inch, and both have been launched in India.


These devices will be powered by the third generation Intel processor range (Ivy Bridge), with the prime focus on being super thin and super light. The IdeaPad Yoga 13 weighs 1.54kg and has a 0.6-inch thick frame.

Fujitsu signalled the launch of a brand new product in their product portfolio – the Fujitsu Stylistic Q702 hybrid Windows 8 tablet.


The new Fujitsu Stylistic Q702 Windows 8 hybrid tablet has a detachable keyboard dock. With the keyboard attached, the Fujitsu Stylistic Q702 appears to be a full-fledged 11.6-inch slim laptop.

Apple confirms new iMac will hit shelves November 30, reveals pricingApple has announced that the new iMac will hit shelves on November 30, 2012, just a couple of days away.

The new Apple iMac  is just 5mm at its thinnest, and does away with the optical drive. The chassis is a combination of aluminum and glass enclosure. Apple claims that the display package has been redone to reduce ambient lighting reflections by up to 75%.

The refreshed iMac also includes third generation quad-core Intel Core i5 processors that can be upgraded to Core i7, 8GB of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and the latest generation Nvidia GeForce graphics processors that according to Apple deliver up to 60 percent faster performance. A new implementation, Fusion Drive, is an innovative new storage option that gives customers the performance of flash and the capacity of a hard drive by combining 128GB of flash with a standard hard drive to create a single storage volume that intelligently manages files to optimize read and write performance.

Finally, the wait is over. Microsoft has announced the availability of its latest Windows 8 OS for users in India and around the world. Starting today, users can access the latest Microsoft OS on a wide range of Windows 8 PCs, ultrabooks, tablets and hybrid devices. Windows 8 will be available in two versions at retail - Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro.


Apart from buying from the new range of Windows 8 devices, users can also upgrade their current PCs to Windows 8. From 2nd June 2012 until 31st January 2013, users currently running PCs with Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 are qualified to download Windows 8 Pro for an estimated price of Rs. 1,999. Those who wish to buy a DVD to upgrade will have to pay Rs. 3,499. This offer is valid until January 31, 2013. After that the OS is expected to be priced above Rs. 11,000.

Apple has launched its new lineup of iMac and Mac mini desktops, and 13-inch MacBook Pro laptops in India. The new generation of devices is thinner and more powerful than the last, with much upgraded hardware. All three devices ship with Mac OS X Mountain Lion.


New 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display

The new 13-inch MacBook Pro features a high-resolution (2,560x1600 pixel – 227ppi) Retina Display, made out of an 13.3-inch IPS panel with a viewing angle of 178 degrees, as well as 75 percent less reflection and 29 percent higher contrast than the previous generation. It is just 0.75-inches thick (20% thinner than its predecessor), and weighs in at 1.62 kgs. It ships only with flash storage options, up 8GB of RAM, and up to Intel Core i7 (Ivy Bridge) processors.

0 Intel envisions palm reading technology to replace passwords

Intel recently unveiled a prototype biometric sensor technology that would allow users to enter passwords simply by waving their hands a tablet, or computer. The method could be used for a variety of passwords, from unlocking the tablet itself, to online services like net-banking and email.


The new software coupled with the biometric sensor is capable of recognizing the patterns of veins in a person’s hands, which are unique to each individual. Showcasing the technology at IDF 2012, Sridhar Iyengar, the director of security research at Intel Labs, said:
